Westfield again was the busiest of the three villages in the Brede Valley ward during April with a number of thefts to report.

On the 10th April, a garden summer house was broken into in Chapel Lane and three push bikes and some motocross clothing was stolen.

On the 11th April a satellite navigation system was stolen from a car which had been parked in Moor Lane.

On the 12th April, a compressor and 2 gas bottles were stolen from an insecure storage shed in Kent Street.

On the 18th April, some energy drinks, a phone charger and a rucksack were stolen from a car which had been left overnight in Westfield Lane after the driver had run out of petrol.

On the 20th April, at approximately 1530hrs a vehicle which was left unattended in Cottage Lane had a cheque book and bank cards stolen from it, an unknown blue vehicle was believed to be involved and seen to leave the scene immediately.

Please make sure that you remove valuable items from your vehicles and if this is not possible then do not leave them on display  and make sure that your vehicle is always kept locked.

Finally on the 29th April, a single vehicle collision occurred in Westfield Lane when in the wet weather a car aqua planed on some surface water but fortunately no injuries were suffered.

Also this month two speed checks were carried out in the village and as a result of these, 6 vehicles were caught exceeding the 30mph limit and the owners of the vehicle will now receive warning letters from Sussex Police.
