The community of Westfield raised an absolutely brilliant £8,187.57 for the Hospice during December 2018. Their spectacular display of Christmas lights, which have become a special place to visit for many local families during the festive season, get bigger and brighter each year.

Thank you to Ken and everyone who decorated their houses in lights to raise money for the Hospice.

Westfield Parish Council (WPC) are currently in negotiations with the Cricket Club to agree a new 99 year lease. It is hoped that the new lease will be finalised in the next couple of weeks. This will allow WPC to apply for further grant funding for the new pavilion project, and secure the future of cricket in Westfield.

The Cricket Club have been making improvements to the ground (including the removal of a few trees) around the edge of the cricket ground. Permission to carry out this work was granted to the Club at a full Council meeting earlier this year. This will also allow for the erection of a new pavilion as well as improving the ground. At the weekend the Club removed all of the tree stumps and leveled off the ground at the same time building a bank around the outside from the excess soil. The next stages will be next spring when they put a layer of top soil on the ground and seed it.

PLEASE NOTE that the land to the south-west of the Cricket Ground is NOT owned by WPC. This land was sold to another party at the same time that WPC purchased the Cricket Ground, but Council were not made aware of this at the time. The attached maps show the boundary of the land owned by WPC marked in red and the right of way (31d) which runs along the boundary of Westfield Down…/countryside/rightsofway/map/
