Local Police Report for Westfield (sumbitted by PC Nigel Collins on 3 January 2012)

December in Westfield saw a return of mindless damage and anti social behaviour during the course of the month and ended with a high value break in to a shed.

It began with a report that on the 6th December a brick was thrown at a car travelling along Cottage Lane at around 8pm causing damage to the bodywork. The brick did not break the window otherwise far worse damage and injury could have been caused.

Theft of Christmas lights also was a common theme during the month which is a real shame to see as Westfield more than any other village in the area gets involved in the festive spirit.

On the 12th December, light bulbs were stolen from a tree in Main Street, on the 13th December, lights were stolen from a tree in Moor Lane and on the 19th December- lights were damaged in a garden in Church Lane. If anyone has any information relating to any of these incidents then please contact the police.

Finally, on the 28th December, mindless youths threw eggs at a house in Geary Place, the first incident of its kind for a number of months.

On the 29th December there was a report of off road bikes being used in the woods at the end of Beaneys Lane, officers did attend but no offenders were located.

Finally, overnight on the 30th December, a shed at the rear of a property in New Cut was broken into and multiple chainsaws and hedge cutters worth over £4000 were stolen. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the police on 101 quoting 285 30/12/11.
